Our Vermont Lodge
The Ski Club of New Jersey purchased the old Barstow Farm in Chittenden, Vermont in 1960, which then became our SCNJ lodge. It is nestled off a private country road, proximate to The Green Mountain National Forest, a preserve with hundreds of miles of trails, ponds, falls, and views.
The Vermont Lodge is where the heart of our club’s happenings occur. It is where we go to gather, ski, hike, swim, and enjoy the four seasons in Vermont.
Through the years, the lodge has gone through a continuous series of improvements.
New roofs, new siding, and a multitude of interior renovations have resulted in a rustic lodge with all the comforts of home, and then some:
lodging for fifty-two people
a large dining room to gather for meals
a large farmhouse kitchen and pantry, with numerous refrigerators
a classic farmhouse porch
a cozy living room with electric fireplace
a well-provisioned recreation room in the basement for kids
an outdoor fire pit
Of course, Killington Ski Resort and Pico Mountain are the obvious local choices for skiing, as they are minutes away, but Vermont has many others to choose from as well.
In addition to its close proximity to Killington and Pico, the Lodge is within reach of the Chittenden Reservoir, and miles upon miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails and summer water sports.
