SCNJ’s Vermont Lodge has exciting summer events and be sure to access the incredible Vermont Tourism Calendar to make your plans!

Pencil in these exciting summer lodge events now before summer is in high gear (it’s ok, there’s still time!). 

You’ll want to consider an open weekend at the Lodge for the Fourth of July! Check our calendar list of all the things happening in our area of Vermont, and make your plans now.

Of course, Aqua weekend never disappoints! This year, summer 2015, it’s being held July 24-26th! Mark your calendar accordingly, and be sure to let your hosts, The Gardiners, know you are coming. Either check your email or your member directory for details and contact info, or book directly with Trudy.

Finally, our Theatre weekend is August 21-23; we’re headed to the Weston Playhouse for Guys and Dolls! Should be fun. Again, check your email for details!

The Ski Club of New Jersey celebrated its first annual picnic this June. Members Jim and Julia Kelly organized the picnic,  and did much of the work, and thanks to them we had plenty of food and lots of fun and games.  Approximately 65+ with adults and kids were on hand to enjoy all kinds of salads, appetizers, and homemade desserts as well as hotdogs and  hamburgers not to mention a spare rib cook off with four contestants and boy were they all good!!! All the kids were given an SCNJ tee shirts with a skis and logo.

Awards were bestowed and we were given a preview of where the club trip might be next year: possibly either Andorra in Spain, or Zermatt in Switzer-
land.

Base upon this years picnic, next year’s will be bigger with more events and more food and drink. Look for the date and join us next year.

From the USSA press release regarding the new partnership: 

NASTAR, which began in 1968 under the wings of SKI Magazine and its editor John Fry, is a recreational ski racing program in place at 115 resorts nationwide with over 165,000 racer days each year. Using the NASTAR handicap system, skiers at local resorts can compare their times against those of top U.S. Ski Team athletes.

The USSA and AIM have executed a letter of intent, which includes the USSA assuming operational control of NASTAR beginning this year, including program and event management as well as sponsorship and media rights.

“Being able to integrate NASTAR directly into our programs will allow us to better include competitors of all ages, encouraging them to expand their participation in ski racing and connecting them with USSA clubs and racing system nationwide,” said Shaw. “It brings together two of the strongest brands in ski racing and will help us to not only engage a new generation of ski racers, but also to have significant impact by extending our brand to new fans and USSA members.”
