February 5 – 10th saw 12 to 19 ladies in attendance throughout Ladies week.

There was ample skiing, snowshoeing, great food, lots of laughs and each other’s company. This year the week was hosted by Marianne Oberdorf and Pat Hogue, as our most recent past (and more than competent) previous hostess, Sonja Denzau has retired (but she attended and enjoyed relaxing!).

 It appeared that if we continue to have the amount of food prepared, purchased and made by volunteers, we may have needed to hire a truck to transport and hold it all.

Right on the heels of Ladies week was the Recreation weekend, hosted by Kathy Kendall. That too brought many folks to the lodge for another weekend of skiing in the warmest February on record, same old, same old, lots of food and drink and skiing in front of a roaring fire.

The next weekend the German Ski Club rented out our lodge with another great group of skiers. All in all, February turned out to be a success for the lodge ($) and for skiing.

The Ski Club of New Jersey enjoyed a strong turnout of members, who in turn were greeted by an equally strong turnout of prospective members who transformed the meeting into a standing room only event! The Ski Club has been running a membership drive on its website by way of a sign up form. 

As the meeting unfolded, budget reporting indicated a healthy club with operations in the black. 

Lodge maintenance continues apace, and all is in good order per the respective reports. The Andorra Spain trip (the club’s annual ski trip) is booking slowly and has been opened up to all members of the New Jersey Ski and Snowboard Council clubs. 

New members listened as benefits as well as requirements of memberships were explained, and at evening’s end, all were seen eagerly  submitting information in order to be paired with a sponsor!

The Ski Club of New Jersey meets twice monthly the second and fourth Thursday of each month, October through April, at theMaywood Inn/Twin Tavern Inn, Maywood, NJ.  and invites newcomers for consideration for membership.

Similar special meetings within the regular meetings will be scheduled three to four times a year, on and ongoing basis, and these meetings will feature a membership Ambassador who will help facilitate the membership process. This is a part of the club’s commitment to growing its membership rolls.

Club members, Ned and Laura, always arrange a great time for fellow members when they host aqua weekend, a water kayaking event, at our Vermont Lodge. Great food, fun, and friendship always ensues! And what is better than Vermont in the summer (other than Vermont in the winter?)

The Chittenden Reservoir provides refreshingly cool water and beautiful panoramas. Hiking is available for boaters with a high warrior quotient! And Vermont nights are a starry and special. 

As is the custom, water sport fun equals hilarity, and weekend warriors return back home tanned, tired, but happy.
