There are so many activities that The Ski Club of New Jersey organizes for members, it’s hard to know where to begin. There are Halloween and Holiday parties at our club meeting place, Victor’s Maywood Inn. We have an eagerly anticipated, grand New Year’s Eve event with fireworks and a champagne toast at midnight at our Vermont Lodge. There is a Ladies Ski week and a Men’s Ski week and Inter club Races and Youth Races. There is a St. Patrick’s day party and a wonderful end of the year party. And during the summer, Aqua Weekend is just one of the highlight events, which includes kayaking and other water sports.
Club members also sponsor New York and New Jersey area hikes, and because of our relationship with the New Jersey Ski and Snowboard Council, there are clinics and expositions. There is a Wednesday Night Race Training program at Tuxedo Ridge in Tuxedo, NY. It’s important not to neglect to mention our yearly ski trips out West or to Europe. And, again, our association with the New Jersey Ski and Snowboard Council ensures that we have access to their many east coast and west coast trips.
And Club Members have the ability to make their own activities on their own time. The number of places to go and see in Vermont are endless. Area hiking, cross country skiing, down hill skiing, horseback riding, maple sugar farms, antique shops, restaurants, waterfalls, covered bridges and on and on ensure that a stay at the lodge is never boring. Or it is, if you want to simply curl up with a book and a glass of wine by the fireside. In either case, whether at our home area or in Vermont, there is always plenty of activities associated with the club. And, we are happy to discover more!
